Introducing The Roy O. Allen House—a living testament to the brilliance of Mid-Century Glass Architecture and an absolute icon in modern design. This home is more than just a property—it’s a connection to my roots as both an architect and real estate broker with a deep passion for discovering extraordinary homes. Growing up in a household where design wasn’t just an aesthetic but a way of life—my parents were modernist architects who also ventured into real estate—I’ve always been drawn to homes that combine visionary design with unparalleled functionality.

This 1957 International Style pavilion is not just a house; it’s a piece of architectural history, featured in Architectural Digest, Dwell, GQ, The New York Times, and even making its mark on TV shows like Fallout and Hunters (Amazon Prime). It’s the kind of property that speaks to everything I believe in as a real estate broker, always striving to bring my clients something truly unique.

Designed by Roy O. Allen, the visionary behind Manhattan’s 1 Liberty Plaza, this home was originally built for his own family, showcasing the very essence of mid-century modern design. Today, it stands as a flawlessly restored and reimagined sanctuary that fuses timeless architecture with the finest in luxury living. With sweeping seasonal views of the Hudson River visible from every room, the home invites you to experience the full beauty of nature while enjoying unparalleled comfort.

When working with clients, I aim to find not just any home—but a space that feels deeply personal and special. The Roy O. Allen House embodies this vision perfectly. The newly renovated primary suite, for instance, is a retreat unto itself, featuring a stunning calacatta verde bathroom, Waterworks fixtures, and a custom Poliform walk-in closet crafted from glass, wood, and leather. The suite’s moss-green suede walls and leathered stone accents are a nod to the Mies van der Rohe-inspired design ethos that influences my own architectural approach.

Every detail throughout the home has been carefully considered, from the plush wool Stark carpeting in the new king bedroom suite to the en suite bathroom wrapped in Sahara Noir marble. Custom Apparatus light fixtures, Buster + Punch metal switches, and Stark carpeting blend to create a living experience that is visually stunning and deeply inviting—a perfect reflection of the seamless fusion of modernism and luxury that I always seek in the properties I represent.

But this home offers more than just a place to live—it’s a cinematic experience. The glass walls bring the outdoors in, letting you experience the changing seasons in their full splendor. Whether hosting an unforgettable gathering or simply seeking quiet refuge, this home provides the perfect blend of glamour and tranquility, all just 53 kilometres from midtown Manhattan. And as if the views weren’t enough, the property is often graced by bald eagles, hawks, ospreys, and owls—further enhancing the home’s sense of serenity.
This property is special in every sense, which is why I’m thrilled to share it with you. While it is listed by the gracious Joanna Rizoulis and Amy Smith Sroka of Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s, they kindly allowed me to publicize The Roy O. Allen House through my own site and media, so you can discover this incredible gem. This isn’t just a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of architectural history—it’s a chance to live in a home that reflects the values and passions I hold dear as both an architect and a real estate broker.
One of the most rewarding parts of my job is helping clients find a home that fills them with joy. If you’ve been inspired by The Roy O. Allen House and you’d like to find something unique in Toronto, I would be happy to show you around.
